01 Overview
NextCue: Bill & Life Reminder ("the App") helps users remember bills, document renewals, subscriptions, rent, warranties, birthdays, and other recurring or one-time events. User privacy is a core principle of this application — your reminders stay on your device, and no account is required to use the App.
In short: the App requires no account, shows no advertisements, uses no analytics or tracking of any kind, and does not send your data anywhere — with one narrow, entirely optional exception described in Section 03, which activates only if you personally choose to turn it on.
02 Information We Collect
The App may store the following information:
- Reminder titles, categories, dates, times, and recurrence or expiry settings you enter
- Notes you add to a reminder
- A history log of when reminders were marked done, snoozed, or missed
- App preferences and settings (alarm tone, snooze duration, silent mode, and similar)
By default, all information is stored locally on the user's own device only. The App does not upload or store user data on developer-owned servers, and the developer has no ability to view your reminders.
If the user chooses to sign in with Google and use the optional backup feature, backup data is stored only inside the user's own Google Drive account. This is completely optional and requires explicit user consent.
03 Google Sign-In & Drive Access
The App optionally allows users to sign in with Google to back up and restore their reminders and history. This feature is off by default and activates only when you tap "Sign in with Google" yourself. If you never sign in, no data ever leaves your device.
The App uses the Google Drive drive.file scope only. This means:
- Your backup is stored in your own Google Drive account, in a visible folder named "NextCue Backups"
- The App can only see and modify the single backup file it created itself — it cannot access any other files, photos, videos, or documents in your Google Drive
- You can view, download, or delete the backup file yourself at any time, directly from the Google Drive app or drive.google.com
- Backup data is not shared with third parties and is never sold
- The developer operates no server in this process and cannot see the contents of your backup
Backup options available to you inside the App:
- Back up now — a one-time manual upload you trigger yourself
- Automatic weekly backup — optional; silently repeats the same upload in the background while you remain signed in
- Backup reminder — optional weekly or monthly notification that simply nudges you to back up manually; this option uploads nothing on its own
- Restore — replaces the reminders and history on your device with your saved backup
- Delete backup from Drive — permanently removes the backup file from your Google Drive
NextCue's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
05 User Control
- Users may use the entire app without ever signing in to Google
- Users may sign out from within the App at any time, which immediately stops all future backup activity
- Users may delete their backup from Google Drive directly within the App
- Users may revoke the App's Google account access anytime via their Google Account permissions page
- Users may clear individual reminders or the entire History log from within the App
- Users may uninstall the app to remove all local device data
06 Permissions Used
- Exact alarm scheduling — ensures reminders fire at precisely the scheduled time
- Notifications — display reminder alerts when they are due
- Full-screen intent — show the full-screen alarm alert screen
- Boot completed — automatically restore reminders after device restart
- Vibration and wake lock — alarm vibration, and keeping the alarm tone playing while the screen is off
- Battery optimization exemption — optional and user-triggered; prevents device battery management from silently delaying or blocking alarms
- Internet and network state — used only by the optional Google Drive backup feature, and only after you sign in
NextCue does not request camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, call log, location, or photo/storage permissions.
07 Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Backup data remains in the user's own Google Drive account until the user chooses to delete it. The App developer does not retain copies of user backup data and has no access to it.
08 Device-Level Backup
Some Android phones perform their own system-level app backup (for example Google's Android backup service, or a phone manufacturer's own backup tool) that can include the App's locally stored data as part of a whole-phone or whole-app backup. This behaviour is controlled by your device and Android version, not by NextCue, and is separate from the optional Google Drive Backup feature described in Section 03.
09 Advertising
This application does not display advertisements and does not use any advertising SDKs. It also uses no analytics libraries. No user data is used for advertising purposes.
10 Children's Privacy
This application is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App requires no personal information to function.
11 Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes in the App or applicable regulations. Users will be informed of significant changes via app update release notes. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
